Testimonials

After using our mirror-polished iron one of our many happy users said it best recently, she said and we quote:
"I went back to using my 'modern iron' this afternoon & I feel like I'm trying to push a brick across my fabric! It just drags!" A true discriminating quilter's prize! A genuine restored and calibrated FW piecing Iron!

Restoration and Calibration Process

The soleplate has undergone the EXCLUSIVE professional "mirror-polishing" process so the iron glides very smoothly over cotton fabric, without any drag. This is at least a $75 to $125 dollar process alone. This makes the sole plate of the iron appear near new! IT GLIDES BETTER THAN NEW! Do not confuse this FW Iron with similar, non-restored models that "supposedly glide well" or appear new. Our FW Irons have been extensively tested using procedures we developed to determine "cotton calibration" to minimize the risk of scorching your valuable quilting fabric. This is a major danger for untested vintage irons. Some irons cannot be calibrated for proper use with cotton although they may operate and be in mint condition!

Why Our Exclusive Restored FW Irons are the Finest Piecing Irons Available

  1. Our “Proprietary Cotton Calibration” Process Allows The Few Extra Moments You Need To “Effectively Press” Your Difficult Pieces With A Very Hot Iron Yet “Without Scorching Your Pieces.”

  2. Fewer Burned Fingers – The Effortless “Glide” from Our Multi-step Pro Mirror-Polishing Process is LIKE NO OTHER whatever the “artificial claim” of other sellers attempting to imitate our exclusive restored FW Iron to realize a premium price for an inferior iron.” Yes, the glide of each one of our FW Irons is “Even Better Than A New FW Iron - if they were still made today, which allows you to press and manipulate tiny pieces easily with far less chance of burning your fingers. The greater the glide – the less chance of burning fingers!

  3. Remember, the top FW Iron manufacturers decades ago were producing a premium quality high priced iron, which has no equal today. However, if the manufacturer chose to put additional labor into each iron produced to individually calibrate it and further mirror-polish it for extraordinary glide, the retail price back then would have made the irons cost prohibitive to most buyers. This is how we add true $$ value to each FW Iron, by doing what the manufacturers back then could not afford to do due to the retail price they'd have to sell it for with additional hours of custom hand labor, exacting calibration and professional machining. Quilters have demanding standards and want an iron that is far superior to an average nice iron.
  4. This collectible FW Iron is the ideal size for piecing, plus it folds for travel to quilting classes, events, etc. Once we mirror polish restore and calibrate one of these collectible irons – it is better than any craft iron you can buy today at any price and can be used every day.
  5. Benjamin Franklin once said: Time is Money.” and indeed it is with the time, effort, skilled craftsperson's expertise and specialized equipment required that we put into the restoration and calibration of each individual iron to meet quilters' demanding standards - Our professional commercial restoration and calibration process takes an average of 5 hours per FW Iron. That's what you're paying for and how we add value to your iron, so you can own the finest piecing iron available. The unrestored irons (with “phony” claims of comparing them to OUR FW IRONS) are just not rewarding to use, compared to our FW Irons, and these unrestored irons can be dangerous.
  6. The quality of these FW Irons made decades ago and their unique ability to carry/transfer heat has no equal in any craft iron at any price found today. Comparing dollars back then proportionately to dollars of today in $$ retail cost, these FW Irons were equal in price or greater than any top $$ Rowenta, etc. irons sold today. So, a FW Iron that has been pro mirror-polish restored and cotton calibrated specifically for piecing will be able to be safely used alongside your vintage sewing machine or your top $$ computer controlled sewing machine.

Piecing Will Be a Joy for Quilters Who Use Our Unique Collectible FW Irons That Have Received Our Custom Soleplate “Mirror Polishing” ... Glides Better Than New... and “Cotton Calibration” Processes.

COLLECTIBLE IRON AS DESIRABLE AS A SINGER FEATHERWEIGHT FOR QUILTERS. A TRAVEL IRON USED BY MANY QUILTERS "NOW" WHEN THEY CAN FIND A "RESTORED ONE" ALONG WITH THEIR SINGER 221 or 222 FEATHERWEIGHT or new machine too!!!

Some quilters use these vintage irons every day in their quilting or sewing room or while at a quilting class etc. The reason is these types of very small, easily manageable, desirable vintage irons heat up to do COTTON and are not cumbersome compared to your full-size Rowenta or other iron. It's super to have this iron right next to your sewing machine when piecing. It's a perfect companion for your Featherweight or other fine sewing machine and is of superior quality compared to the craft/travel irons sold today!

Top quilters still have their Rowenta iron (or similar model) of course, but they regard this iron as just as valuable in its role. Yes, it's a collectible too!

These FW Irons are compact, which makes one so easy to transport in your sewing bag or case.

These are neat vintage electric irons for the small appliance collector as well. Anyone who collects Featherweights should have one of these units, which are extremely hard to find these days in as good calibrated and "restored soleplate condition" as this iron! Irons like this one actually traveled with the Featherweights way back when so this has been a long time marriage. As you are probably aware, Singer FWs were frightfully expensive for their time and so was this iron! Buying this iron then was like buying an expensive Rowenta today.

This small appliance collector iron still can be used every day, so it is practical as well.

Most of us might agree that there's no such thing as a “free lunch,” you get what you pay for. The hard reality is that you can pay now or pay later to bring a non-restored iron up to quilters' demanding piecing standards.

Our Custom FW Irons are Specially Prepared for Effortless, Safe Quilt Piecing!
